Reupholstered Chair

Matt's uncle made a small kitchen table as a wedding gift to us. For the first few years of marriage we used our black folding chairs as companions to a beautifully finished wood table. It has been difficult to find chairs that match the finish of the table. A co-worker of mine was trying to get rid of these chairs after getting a new dining room table. Even though they don't match the finish I thought they were cute. And they were definitely less expensive than new chairs. One chair had nice goldish/greenish upholstery that matched our kitchen but the others were pink. I decided to refinish all three chairs to match our green and yellow kitchen.

Spring into Fall

It is officially fall but you may not think so when you look in our backyard.  Our crab apple tree is flowering again . . .
The weather today is a beautiful beginning to fall. I spent a lot of time today driving back from a friend's wedding. I enjoyed the early fall colors all along the highway while listening to the Packer game. Then I corrected papers in the sunshine on our back patio. I LOVE fall!

The blossoms looked like this at first but after a little rain the were beautiful

Painted Mason Jar

I love Mason jars. We used them for bouquets at our wedding reception because they are cheap yet charming. After the wedding I wasn't really sure what to do with all of them because I didn't know how to can anything.  I used them around the house to hold several random things . . .
but found an idea to jazz them up a bit on pinterest. I painted a couple coats on the jar. Once it was dry I lightly sanded the outside to give it a rustic look.

Life as homeowners!

unfinished paint in the kitchen after patching . . .
I made the color more cheery too

a peach bedroom . . .

boring white front entry. . .

no caulk around the tub, no stove . . .

random pieces of unattached trim, and outside - a post replacement and installation of a gutter. All but the last 3 on the list are done. You have to have a few things out of place I guess! Matthew is very excited for his newest addition, surround sound. I was reluctant because we are trying to pay this house off in less than 5 years . . . but . . . I have to admit - it sounds pretty cool! We even got to host Matt's Mom's family for Christmas! Now we're really feeling like adults.

First Saturday breakfast in our new home!
